What to Expect on Teacher Certification Exams

Teacher certification exams assess your knowledge of pedagogy, content, and educational responsibilities. In Texas, you’ll likely take:

  • PPR EC–12: Focuses on pedagogy and classroom management

  • Content Exams: Based on the subject and grade level you’ll teach

  • STR (Science of Teaching Reading): Required for certain early grade teachers

Exams are timed and may include selected-response (multiple-choice) and constructed-response (short answer or essay) formats. Familiarize yourself with the blueprint and pass score.
